As Pierce County Auditor, I will work for You

How does Ranked Choice Voting work?

The candidates will be divided into three columns. You will rank the candidates in order of preference 1-2-3.
NOTE: Your ballot will still be valid if you only mark Julie Anderson, and do not rank the other two candidates.
So make Julie your first (and only!) choice for Pierce County Auditor!

How RCV is counted

Every voter's first choice vote is counted. Any candidate who receives more than 50% of first choice votes is declared the winner. If no candidate receives more than 50%, a process of elimination and vote transferring begins:

1. The candidate who received the fewest number of first choice votes is eliminated from the race.

2. Voters who select the eliminated candidate as their first choice will have their second choice vote transferred and counted.

3. All of the votes are recounted.

4. If any candidate receives more than 50% of the votes in the second count he or she is declared the winner. If no candidate receives more than 50%, the process of elimination, transferring votes and recounting is repeated until one candidate has the winning majority.

How to mail in your ballot

If you choose to mail in your ballot, you'll need two stamps this year. Due to the extra weight of two ballot cards, one 44-cent stamp won't be enough.

Stamp it twice to make your mark!

How to submit your ballot for free

No postage required if you submit your ballot at one of these locations!
