About Julie

Elected Office
I’ve dedicated nearly a decade to nonpartisan political service, as your Pierce County Auditor as well as a Tacoma City Council member.

Beyond my elected service, I spent more than 20 years with:

Great nonprofits like the YWCA and Episcopal Services for Youth.
Washington State government, Department of Commerce, Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration.

Washington State Bar Association, Character and Fitness Board.
Washington State Association of County Officials, Board of Directors.
Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.

Civic Life
Rotary Club.
City Club of Tacoma.
American Leadership Forum.
American Association of University Women.
Women’s Political Caucus.
Historic Tacoma.

Term of Office
I was elected in a 2009 special election to fill an unexpired term for Pierce County Auditor. After serving one year, I ran in the 2010 regular election for my first four-year term.  I will run for a second term in 2014.

I’ve brought a combination of professional administration, nonpartisan demeanor, and executive management experience to local government.  I look forward to continuing to serve you.

“Julie Anderson is the Pierce County Auditor.  Elected in 2009, she is responsible for elections, licensing services, a variety of public records and animal control.

Julie is a highly-organized and determined leader known for excellent communication and the ability solve problems.  For over 20 years, Julie has served our community as a nonprofit leader, criminal justice practitioner, and elected official.

Raised in a military family, Julie traveled internationally.  She settled in Tacoma 20 years ago and adopted the city as her home town.

Julie’s leisure time is spent soaking up visual arts, creating her own jewelry and print work, and working on her historic home, the old Whitworth College Literary Society Hall.

She’s passionate about increasing women’s participation in the political process.”
